The Foster Group Legal Search a leading boutique legal search firm, today announced the expansion of their firm with the opening of a Boston office and the arrival of Richards "Dick" Gordon who has joined the firm as the National Head of the In-House Practice Group, and Member of the Partner Practice Group, based in Boston and New York. Dick will focus on partner level candidates, as well as recruiting in-house attorneys and general counsels and providing expert advisory services to corporations across the nation.
Most recently, Dick founded the Boston office and led the In-House Practice Group for a leading global legal search firm. Dick has placed more than 300 General Counsel in his career and brings an abundance and wealth of knowledge and experience. For in-house, he specializes in general counsel, senior-level, and staff-level positions within Fortune 1000 companies as well as rapidly growing companies. He has advised clients on legal department development and expansion in New England, across the nation and internationally in the high tech, biotech, manufacturing, energy, healthcare, financial services, consumer products, media and retail industries.
On the law firm side, Dick represents individual partners and partner groups in the lateral market. He is responsible for the placement of numerous individual partners and practice groups in national and international law firms throughout New England. He also serves as an advisor to local and out-of-state firms looking to grow their Boston and New England presence.
Experience
Dick's expertise is built on years of experience as a practicing attorney, business professional and legal recruiter. Early in his legal career, Dick practiced law at Parker, Coulter, Daley & White, and later he joined Wayne, Lazares & Chappell where he became a corporate and real estate partner. In 1989, he left the practice of law and co-founded Bickerton & Gordon, which grew to be one of New England's premier legal search firms. The firm merged with Major, Linsey & Africa in 2004.
A recognized leader in legal search, Dick has written several articles and has been a regular participant in legal recruitment seminars. A native Minnesotan, but now a true New Englander, he is a former secondary school English teacher and coach, having taught at two top Connecticut schools, and a former newspaper reporter for a top Vermont weekly.
